An exciting opportunity to learn and grow on a "Chest Focused" inpatient unit. Unit 61 provides pre-op and post-operative care to Thoracic Surgery patients. Unit 61 provides care to the acute Pulmonary Medicine, adult Cystic Fibrosis and complex medical patient population. Unit 61 provides excellent learning opportunities while working alongside our Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Educators and Nurse Clinicians.
Description:
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of recognized Hospital Unit Clerk course or equivalent education/skills. Unit 61 experience in the last 6 months. Ability to navigate Connect Care efficiently. Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions while maintaining a calm and pleasant attitude. Demonstrated practice that is patient/ family centered. Demonstrated flexibility, self-motivation, organizational skills and excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with ESP an asset. 2 years recent Unit Clerk experience in acute care setting desirable.
