Post secondary degree specializing in accounting or related field (e.g. economics, statistics).
Additional Required Qualifications:The successful candidates should be knowledgeable of accounting principles and financial statement preparation for large and complex clients in a public sector setting. Experience in managing a single entity financial statement audit including the preparation of the required audited financial statements is required. Knowledge of tax return preparation and a proven ability to work with stakeholders to prepare effective analysis for reporting cycle is required. Ability to work with tight reporting deadlines, as well as strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite applications, specifically Excel and Word, are required. Ability to function within a collaborative team environment, excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills, as well as an ability to work independently with guidance in only the most complex situations are required for this position. This position will be part of Acute Care Alberta effective April 1, 2025. Preferred Qualifications:The ideal candidate has demonstrated strong and current understanding of Public Sector Account Standards (PSAS) and other sectors of GAAP with 3 – 5 years of accounting/financial reporting experience with preference given to experience with a large, complex public sector entity. Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation is preferred. Experience with mentoring junior staff is preferred.
