Your Opportunity:
Come join our Hospital-at-Home team within the Hematology/Oncology/Blood and Marrow Transplant/Immunology Clinic (HOTI clinic) team at the Alberta Children’s Hospital (ACH). We are seeking to fill a temporary part-time outpatient staff nurse position that is a blended role within the Hospital-at-Home Program and the HOTI day treatment unit. This position provides care to patients in their homes as well as the HOTI day treatment unit. The Hospital-At-Home/Day Treatment Unit RN will care for patients with hematology and immunology disorders, oncology diagnosis as well as those patients that require cellular therapy. The primary responsibility is administration of chemotherapy/biotherapy agents as well as accessing and care of CVC’s, administration of blood products/components and assessment/treatment of Hem/Onc/BMT emergencies. This position will also provide teaching and support to patients and families within the program regarding care at home, chemotherapeutic agents, diagnoses and treatment protocols. A close working relationship is required between all members of the multi-disciplinary health care team. This position will also help provide coverage across the HOTI Program including Unit 1. The successful candidate will show proficiencies in organization, critical thinking, communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to demonstrate leadership. Quality improvement, change management skills and adaptability are required to be a successful team member within the HOTI Clinics. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:Min 1 year of current pediatric oncology experience as an RN Active APHON chemotherapy certification Current Central Venous Catheter experience, including experience in occlusion management Possession of a valid class 5 driver’s licence Ability to lift/push/pull at least 50 lbs Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time
Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor level degree in nursing Previous HOTI Clinic Day Treatment Unit experience within the last 2 years Previous experience with Hematology, and/or Immunology, and/or Blood and Marrow transplant. Completion of Pediatric BMT modules Strong IV initiation skills CPHON Certification
