Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Current clinical experience (within the last 12 months) as a Registered Nurse in Critical Care at a tertiary level hospital. Minimum of 3 years experience within the last 5 years as a Registered Nurse in more than one of the following departments: acute care, emergency, intensive care, operating room, obstetrics, and psychiatry. A willingness to learn new skills as required. Ability to work shift work and meet the physical demands of the job. Completion of an accredited Critical Care Training program OR 3 years experience within the last 5 years Critical Care experience in a tertiary level hospital. Experience within the last 3 years caring for patients with mechanical ventilation, advanced cardiac monitoring, advanced hemodynamic monitoring, emergency cardiac arrest management, countershock, inotropes, and massive transfusions. All applicants may be required to complete The Orientation Program for Adult Critical Care in Alberta (OPACCA) training or the critical care challenge process. Past leadership training/experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Certification(s) in a relevant specialty area including: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS), Canadian Nurses Association (CNA), International Trauma Life Support (ITLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). Wound Care Experience and/or Certification. Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC). Previous OBS/Cardiac/Pediatric experience. Charge nurse experience.
