HCA and Nursing Student Enrolled HCAs

For those who have completed a recognized HCA program and are actively enrolled or eligible for enrolment in the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory.

HCA Nursing Students

Nursing students who are enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program and who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and have either completed their 1st year of practical nursing; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Please visit the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory to enroll as a nursing student.

Graduate Licensed Practical Nurses 

Graduates who have completed an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program and are active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).

Graduate Registered Nurses & RPNs

Open to those who have completed an accredited Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse program and are active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA).

Undergraduate Nursing Employee (UNE)

 

For students actively enrolled in an accredited Alberta nursing education program leading to initial entry to practice as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse. You must have completed a minimum of 600 hours of clinical practice in an accredited Alberta nursing education program.

Hybrid-UNE Program

 

Are you a student nurse interested in working in rural Alberta? 

 

The Hybrid-UNE program allows nursing students to be employed as a UNE while completing your final practicum in a rural community. Gain practical experience and develop valuable skills while earning income, all while contributing towards the completion of your required final clinical practicum hours.

 

Requirements:

  • Only open to students completing their final practicum in a Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing.
  • Placements will be confirmed by your school. You will need to talk to your school's placing coordinator about your interest.
