Recreation Therapist I
Your Opportunity:
Within the Adult Inpatient Program, the Concurrent Disorders Enhanced Services at the Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury provides care and treatment for those individuals experiencing a severe mental illness and severe addiction to support recovery. Reporting to a unit manager, Recreation Therapist I - Concurrent Disorders Enhanced Services (CDES) will be working within a client centered treatment approach and will be responsible for assessment, providing patient/family support, discharge planning, group facilitation and individual work with clients. You will support clients in planning and accessing healthy leisure activities in community.
Description:
As a Recreation Therapist I, you will be working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, providing comprehensive services for patients (clients, residents) within your assigned program or service area. You will ensure the level of therapeutic recreation practice is evidence based, patient-and family-centred, and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management of clients¿ treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation. You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.

Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Basic Cardiac Life Support-Health Care Provider (BCLS-HLP) required. Mental Health & Addictions experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in rehabilitation setting for individuals with serious mental illnesses desired. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Valid Class 4 driver’s license.
