Recreation Aide

The Mental Health Adult Inpatient Program at the Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury provides care and treatment for those individuals experiencing a severe and persistent mental illness to support recovery. Reporting to a Unit Manager, the Recreation Aide will be working within a client centered treatment approach and will be responsible for engaging with clients with a safe and therapeutic approach. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Description:
As a Recreation Aide, you will be working both independently and as part of the interdisciplinary team where you will contribute to the effective and efficient delivery of rehabilitation services. Your role may include administrative duties such as ordering supplies, booking clients, tracking attendances, equipment inventory and preparing/cleaning the treatment area. Under the direction of a supervising recreation therapist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, audiologist, speech language, you will prepare and/or apply routine interventions, promote patient (client, resident) healthy living, self-care independence and motivate clients to actively participate in assigned therapy protocols or programs. You may assist with client lifts and transfers, positioning, and basic activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) within the context of the therapy program.
