The Wood Buffalo Addiction and Mental Health department has an exciting opportunity for a permanent fulltime Mental Health Therapist position. If you are passionate about providing Addiction & Mental Health Treatment Services to all age groups, then this is the ideal career opportunity for you. This is an advanced mental health role required to perform the restricted activity of psychosocial interventions to address the full range of addiction and mental health issues. Supporting psychosocial recovery this role provides rehabilitation for people with severe and persistent mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. This may include illness education and management, skills for daily living, health promotion and return to meaningful activity including leisure and employment. Facilitate individuals' abilities to guide their own wellness journeys, and live satisfying, hopeful, and contributing lives. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, Recovery Alberta currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:Valid Class V driver's license.
