Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:To ensure your skills and qualifications are considered please attach a resume and cover letter with your application. 2 year acute care Medical/Surgical Nursing experience within the last 5 years required. PCA Certification required. TNA/TPN monitoring knowledge required. Central Line Certification required. Chest Tube care and maintenance knowledge required. Previous experience preceptoring, orientating, and/or mentoring new staff and/or students preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills. Knowledge and use of Clinibase, SCM, and AHS email required. Demonstrated effective patient teaching experience (both written and verbal). Strong critical thinking skills demonstrated. Proficiency in clinical assessment skills.
Preferred Qualifications:High functioning time-management and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize in a rapidly changing environment. Effective interpersonal and communication skills through computer, verbal and written means, in a professional, and mature manner. Initiative, flexibility, and independence of nursing practice in a team environment. Ability to successfully establish relationships with both patients and families and engage them in their care.
