Description:

Reporting to the Executive Director, HIM Operational Practice, the Director of HIM Edmonton Zone is the Single Point of Contact for HIM in the Edmonton Zone with a functional reporting relationship to the Zone and responsible for supporting and providing expert advice on HIM operational practices, processes and workflows to clinical and non-clinical stakeholders. This position is responsible and accountable for leading an operational team in the planning, delivery and evaluation of health information management services throughout the Zone in alignment with HIM’s provincial standards and workflows. The Director is accountable for the HIM domain of practice Switchboard and Patient Information and leads HIM’s organizational activities for Emergency/Disaster Management. This role’s accountabilities are in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services and HIM’s strategic priorities. Key Responsibilities: Provide domain leadership for Switchboard & Patient Information and emergency/disaster management activities. Collaborate with HIM leadership, Zone Clinical leadership teams, and other internal and external stakeholders to optimize health information management services. Steward human and fiscal resources, ensuring effective program implementation and continuous service improvement. Lead strategic planning, quality initiatives, and transformation efforts within health information management. Foster innovation, support research & education, and promote a culture of diversity, inclusion, and patient & workplace safety.

Required Qualifications:

CHIMA certification and/or a bachelor’s degree in health/health informatics or a related field (or equivalent experience). 6-8 years of progressive leadership in health information management/health informatics in a complex health care environment. Proven ability to manage large-scale organizational transformation, strategic initiatives, and financial stewardship. Proven ability to lead teams in the transition to and sustainment of provincial practices, processes and workflows in an eHIM (C) environment. Strong leadership skills, ability to influence, inspire, and build confidence in diverse teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

PROSCI Change Management Certification. Experience in the implementation and optimization of electronic Clinical Information Systems (CIS) (Connect Care preferred).
