Your Opportunity:
Under limited supervision, the Unit Clerk is responsible for performing clerical, receptionist and booking duties for the Unit. The Unit Clerk is instrumental in facilitating communication between nursing and other health disciplines, departments, patients and families, and in maintaining confidentiality of patient information. This position is a major asset to the smooth and efficient operation of the unit. The unit clerk provides clerical support including collecting/distributing mail, processing admissions for mothers and babies, creating ULI numbers, preparing forms/requisitions and maintaining supplies.
Description:
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:Current experience as an ambulatory clerk is required, with a minimum of 1-3 years of recent experience in an ambulatory setting, specifically in Women’s Health Clinics, is necessary. Skills: Excellent communication skills are essential for effective interactions with patients and team members. Strong conflict management and collaborative skills are crucial for working within a team environment. Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and stay organized in a fast-paced setting. Proficiency in Connect Care is required. Strong interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and support patients and families. Self-Direction: Ability to work independently and be self-motivated. Patient and Family Care: A strong commitment to providing Patient and Family Centered Care is essential for this role. Physical Demands: Expectation to use a computer and phone frequently; ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods is necessary. Data Entry: Previous experience in data entry with a high level of keyboarding proficiency is required. Emotional Support: Ability to assist and support patients and families during difficult health journeys. Reliability: Demonstrated reliability and dependability in previous roles is essential. Preferred Experience: MOA/Unit Clerk experience in a high acuity setting is preferred, along with relevant education and experience in a Women’s Health Ambulatory setting.
