Unit 5F3 is a fast-paced, 21-bed inpatient unit dedicated to caring for older adults with diverse medical needs. Our patients include individuals with delirium, dementia, falls, congestive heart failure (CHF), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), diabetes, and other chronic conditions. Additionally, we provide compassionate end-of-life care for those in need of palliative support. Description:
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience working in a hospital setting. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, families, and staff. Maintains strict confidentiality and exercises sound judgment when handling private information. Computer literacy, including proficiency in Excel, Word, Connect Care, and I-Request. Experience with supply ordering, maintenance requests, appointment scheduling, and patient transportation booking. Knowledge of hospital protocols and procedures. Ability to adapt quickly to fluctuating workloads and changing work conditions. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are essential for managing multiple tasks while interacting with patients with cognitive impairment and fluctuating behaviours. Must be patient, flexible, and able to maintain focus while working with frequent interruptions and distractions. A current (within the last 90 days) Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search is required for all external applicants.
Preferred Qualifications:Awareness of how environment, noise, and routine impact patients living with dementia and ability to adjust communication and approach accordingly. Experience or willingness to provide gentle, respectful interaction with patients who may be confused, agitated, or verbally repetitive. Connect Care training and experience preferred. Experience as a Connect Care Super User and/or Downtime Captain is an asset. I-Request and E-Facilities experience preferred.
