The Rockyview General Hospital (RGH) is unique in offering a combined 12 bed Intensive Care Unit and 7 bed Coronary Care Unit. With a primary focus on critically ill medical & surgical patients who require a high degree of specialized nursing and medical care, common patient diagnoses include respiratory failure, pneumonia, complications related to asthma, cardiac arrest, sepsis, renal and liver failure, complications of diabetes (DKA), complications of pregnancy, shock, chest pain, MI, CHF and dysrhythmias. The Critical Care Unit Clerk is a pivotal member of the inter-professional team in the ICU/CCU. As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit. As the Unit Clerk, you will maintain current and professional practice, engage in professional development activities, participate in quality improvement initiatives, support educational preceptorship of students and new unit clerks, promote a positive supportive work environment, and demonstrate professional accountability. In addition, you will demonstrate excellence in patient and family centered care, a collaborative team-based approach; conflict resolution, critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills; and a commitment to fostering an environment of respect, promoting the values of AHS.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:1 year experience as a unit clerk in an acute care setting within the last 2 years. Will consider a successful final practicum in an ICU setting within the last 6 months as equivalent. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and able to prioritize many competing needs.
Preferred Qualifications:Critical care or emergency unit clerk experience. Strong working knowledge of medical terminology. Excellent interpersonal skills. Proficient in computer applications such as excel, PDF, Microsoft teams, I-request, E facilities. Knowledge and proficiency in utilizing electronic health systems such as: Connect Care, Netcare, MUSE. Detail orientated with work and processes.
