Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of a Recreation Therapy diploma OR Therapy Assistant diploma from an accredited post-secondary Institution. Minimum 1-year experience working in a rehabilitation setting, providing therapeutic recreation for individuals with chronic disease and complex dementia needs required. Fitness Alberta certification: Foundations in Physical Activity & Exercise and Fitness for the Older. First Aid certification. Valid Heart and Stroke Foundation-Basic Life Support. Aquatic Therapy certification/experience. Music Care and Expressive Arts certification/experience. Dementia Care certification/experience. Class 5 license and a reliable vehicle to travel to client’s home in the community to provide therapy required. Proven organization & time management skills required. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills required. Able to accept verbal and written instructions and perform responsibilities with minimal supervision. Professional and courteous manner. Physically capable of pushing wheelchairs for an extended period and perform client transfers. Established skillset with Microsoft Office essential. Punctual, meticulous, reliable and demonstrates regular attendance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Food Safe (Rurals). Non-Violent Crises Intervention.
