Come join the dynamic Calgary Rural Rehabilitation team! This casual Therapy Assistant opportunity will be based out of Claresholm and will be focused on supporting Occupational therapy and Physiotherapy services in the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre as well as the Claresholm general Hospital. The Rural Allied Health team in Claresholm provides rehabilitation services for long term care, acute care, outpatients and home care. Willow Creek Continuing care supports 100 long term care residents, and Claresholm General Hospital houses a 16 bed Acute Medical Unit and an emergency department. Reporting to the Rural Allied Health Manager (Adults) the Therapy Assistant will work with our existing rehabilitation team to provide integrated rehabilitation services across the continuum of health services. Areas of responsibility include supporting the acute care, long term care, home care, and outpatient programs. In addition to performing your clinical roles you will be expected to foster effective relationships within the site and across our rehabilitation teams.
Description:
As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision.

Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Therapy Assistant (OTA/PTA) diploma or equivalent qualifications will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous rural experience. Previous experience in acute care, long term care and/ or outpatient services for a senior population strongly preferred.
