Completion of a post-secondary education in a related trade or technology program.
Additional Required Qualifications:Must hold credentials in HVACR Technician Certificate or Building Environmental Systems Technology Diploma, or completion of a two-year diploma in a related technology or field from a Canadian accredited institution (International credentials must be IQAS approved). Minimum 5 years’ work experience as a ticketed HVAC technician with HVACR Technician Certificate or Building Environmental Systems Technology Diploma. Minimum 2 years’ experience in an active hospital maintenance program (International credentials must be IQAS approved). Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience with: ASHRAE Standard 170 – Ventilation of Health Care Facilities, CSA-Z317.2, Health Care Facility Infection Prevention Control, Electrical Code, Alberta Building Code & Safety Regulations; Familiarity with tools and equipment used in the trade; Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel); Ability to work within a team setting and independently in an interdisciplinary setting, maintain confidentiality, and prioritize tasks efficiently;; Analyzing performance of air handling systems; Proven reliability with no physical limitations regarding sitting, kneeling, crawling, squatting, standing, walking, working at heights, and carrying heavy loads; Demonstrated self-direction, adaptability, and flexibility with dealing with uncontrollable situations; Must meet all organizational policy requirements; Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge in implementing preventive maintenance schedules, prepare feasibility, cost estimates, reports, and ordering supplies; Preference will be given to previous maintenance experience; Must be reliable, cooperative and capable of working independently; Has the ability to work under emergency conditions and in difficult situations; Experience with HVAC systems in complex environments; Strong analytical skills for system performance and load comparison.
