Description:
The Team Lead, Time and Labour, is the functional expert within HR Shared Services responsible for overseeing time entry processing and managing interfaces and exceptions. Reporting to the Manager, Payroll and T&L Operations, this role supports time card operations for over 130,000 employees across Alberta Health Services, Alberta Precision Laboratories, Covenant Health, Carewest and Capital Care. The Team Lead ensures accurate and timely time entry, troubleshooting issues that arise during pay processing. Supporting a team of approximately 16 members, this role is accountable for loading time and labour data from various provincial scheduling systems, managing exception time, auditing pay transactions, reviewing rejected time, and responding to HR Contact Centre tickets to help maintain payroll accuracy. This position manages interfaces between scheduling systems (Workforce ESP/WFM) and PeopleSoft (Payroll System), supporting daily operations, upgrades, and testing. The lead oversees the setup of collective agreement scheduling and timecard rules in the Time & Labour module. As a subject matter expert in PeopleSoft and ESP/WFM, the lead participates in working groups, supports scheduling offices, and resolves complex escalations related to time and labour. Additional responsibilities include compiling metrics for reporting, performing quality checks, and collaborating with HR, IT, and third-party partners to maintain system accuracy and controls. The role also leads, coaches, and develops a diverse team, aligning performance with organizational goals.

NPI (National Payroll Institute) PCP or PLP certification is required. Supervisory experience leading a team. Over 5 years of progressive payroll and time & labour experience in a large and complex organization.
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience with multiple terms of employment and/or collective agreements. Sound knowledge and expertise in HR Management Systems including reporting tools and PeopleSoft. Confident and comfortable completing Performance Appraisals and having performance conversations. Able to manage and lead a team to deliver on quality, accuracy and sustainable targets aligned with organizational operational priorities. Strong leadership and organizational skills to manage multiple and competing priorities. Proven experience providing client focused service with a commitment to providing long term quality services. Ability to foster a climate of cooperation and build solid relationships with internal and external stakeholders, to create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture.
Preferred Qualifications:A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Proficient in MS Office suite, including Excel and Access or other databases. Experience working in a unionized environment. Experience in a Healthcare environment.
