Description:
The Team Lead position provides frontline leadership, coaching and direction to Telecommunications Operators (T/O’s) and Security Watch Schedulers in the PSCC. The incumbent is an expert in all functions of the PSCC and is able to perform all the functions of the T/O’s and Security Watch Schedulers. The Team Leader uses critical thinking and change management skills to guide the PSCC staff in their day-to-day tasks as well as taking the lead on serious and life-threatening requests for service. The Team Leader has superior organizational skills in managing schedules and administrative functions. The Team leader investigates concerns and provides evidence-based analysis and recommendations to staff and management. Key Responsibilities include: Critical thinking in high risk or life-threatening situations. Have the ability to use solid judgement when making choices that reflect. the department as a whole. Guidance and direction to the PSCC staff to ensure all low and high priority situations are being managed appropriately. Must be able to implement and explain new and sometimes difficult changes and gain acceptance provincially. Supervision to ensure best practice and compliance with policies and procedures. Staff audits and PSCC process review to ensure improvement and growth.

Valid class 5 non-GDL driver's license. Currently have or able to attain and maintain a Community Peace Officer Level I designation within one year. Completion of the Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (P.A.R.E.) within 6 months prior to commencement with Alberta Health Services. Minimum 2 years’ experience in a security role. Ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity (healthcare experience an asset). Public speaking capabilities. Proven multi-tasking and effective decision-making abilities in a fast paced, stressful environment. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development.

Preferred Qualifications:
2 years post-secondary education in Law Enforcement, Social Studies, or Security & Asset protection. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered. WHMIS training preferred. Certificate in CPI Non-violent Crisis Intervention an asset. Valid First Aid certificate preferred; valid BCLS - Level C certificate preferred. Pressure Point Control Tactic Certificate an asset.
