Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Area Manager Forensic Assessment & Outpatient Services, the Social Worker III will act as a member of the multidisciplinary clinical assessment and treatment team. The clinician will provide primary Sexual Offender Assessment & Treatment to individuals convicted of such offenses under the criminal code of Canada. The position involves provision of clinical services to individuals and/or families, consultation to the inter-professional team and may also include supervision of Masters or bachelor's level Social Work students as assigned. The Social worker III may also provide input/ participate in facilitation of program development, staff development, service planning, quality improvement and evaluation and/or research activities as identified by the forensic outpatient service area(s). The treatment may include but is not limited to court mandated and court requested forensic treatment services (clinical assessment, treatment and consultation services) to a target population of individuals who have a legal mandate to attend for assessment and/or treatment in a community forensic mental health setting. The Social Worker will work effectively in an interdisciplinary setting and also act as a liaison and program ambassador of forensic services. Work will be performed with a high degree of independence within broad guidelines and in accordance with program and professional standards. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Description:

As a Social Worker III, you will perform either advanced level assessment and treatment or act as a clinical lead. You will work with or within teams to provide health care services for patients with complex and multidimensional medical, psychosocial, environmental and instrumental needs. You will provide advanced clinical services, consultation to the interprofessional team and patients/families and supervision of students and team members as assigned. You may also act as a clinical lead providing leadership in the planning, development, and delivery of services in a specific area, as well as staff development, quality improvement and evaluation or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s).

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Social Work required. Current active registration in good standing with the Alberta College of social work (ACSW) required. 3-5 Years prior experience in an acute or community mental health setting required. Experience providing therapy and psychosocial interventions required. Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work in an interdisciplinary setting required. Must have authorization to perform restricted activities required. Solid interpersonal communication skills, interviewing techniques and writing skills required. Formal training in CBT, DBT, Group Psychotherapy, Family therapy &/or other endorsed forms of therapy is required. In-Depth knowledge of mental health / mental illness required.

Preferred Qualifications:

NVCI certification preferred. Current CPR preferred. Experience in a Forensic mental health setting preferred. Current working knowledge of sexual offender risk assessment tools preferred. ATSA certification preferred.
