he Alberta Children's Hospital (ACH) is a warm & vibrant workplace, with team members providing service to children & their families in inpatient units & ambulatory clinics. The Social Worker III, as part of the ACH site wide Social Work Service, ensures their clinical practice is patient/family centered, delivered in accordance with the Social Work Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics, evidence based, and research informed and aligned with program/clinic frameworks. This Social Worker III - Emergency Department position will provide primary support to the ACH Emergency Department as well as inpatient units as needed, providing advanced level clinical assessment, intervention, and consultation to families and other health care providers. This includes the provision of care in the areas of trauma, crisis intervention, grief and loss, palliation, catastrophic diagnosis, sexual abuse, child maltreatment, chronic and acute illness and medical conditions. Includes both day, night and weekend shifts as per rotation. As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team; will exhibit excellent clinical reasoning & problem-solving skills including analytical thinking & conflict resolution/negotiation; will be organized in managing a diverse & complex caseload; will demonstrate initiative, adaptability & flexibility to meet varying clinical & operational needs; & will demonstrate effective interpersonal & verbal/written communication skills. Supervision of the clinical practice of students is required. Participation on program/clinic committees is expected. You will receive guidance, mentoring, & leadership appropriate to your level of experience.
Description:
As a Social Worker III, you will perform either advanced level assessment and treatment or act as a clinical lead. You will work with or within teams to provide health care services for patients with complex and multidimensional medical, psychosocial, environmental and instrumental needs. You will provide advanced clinical services, consultation to the interprofessional team and patients/families and supervision of students and team members as assigned. You may also act as a clinical lead providing leadership in the planning, development, and delivery of services in a specific area, as well as staff development, quality improvement and evaluation or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s).

Master's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:A minimum of five years of experience in pediatric social work, preferably in an acute health care setting. Formal training and demonstrated ability to deliver trauma–informed interventions. Formal training and demonstrated ability in crisis intervention. Formal training and demonstrated experience supporting families through grief and loss. Demonstrated experience with the intersection of child welfare and medical Social Work to address child maltreatment and neglect. Advanced interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to organize work and set priorities autonomously.
Preferred Qualifications:Advanced clinical skills and experience working within a variety of pediatric environments, including but not limited to the PICU, NICU, Emergency, and Palliative Care. Experience working with mental health concerns impacting the family system is an asset.
