We are looking for a collaborative and innovative Social Worker II to join our multidisciplinary team and provide direct patent care to the Emergency Department. This position also provides coverage to Inpatient Medicine units, as required. Under the supervision of the Allied Health Assistant Manager and support from the Clinical Practice Leader, the SWII position will work within the established standards, directives and policies for the work environment and the profession. The successful incumbent will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain collaborative working relationships. They will demonstrate sound clinical judgement and critical thinking skills, as well as have strong time management and prioritization skills. The present caseload for this position is in the Emergency Department on a day, evening and weekend rotation. The caseload and work hours for all positions within the Allied Health department may be subject to change based on operational considerations.
Description:
As a Social Worker III, you will perform either advanced level assessment and treatment or act as a clinical lead. You will work with or within teams to provide health care services for patients with complex and multidimensional medical, psychosocial, environmental and instrumental needs. You will provide advanced clinical services, consultation to the interprofessional team and patients/families and supervision of students and team members as assigned. You may also act as a clinical lead providing leadership in the planning, development, and delivery of services in a specific area, as well as staff development, quality improvement and evaluation or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s).

Master's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:Basic Cardiac Life Support-Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) through Heart & Stroke Foundation. Connect Care- Allied Health ILT. Experience working as a Social Worker with Allied Health in an adult urban acute in-patient medical or surgical unit in the last year.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience providing Social Work support in the Emergency Department and/or Intensive Care Unit of an adult urban acute care/hospital setting within the past year. Strong psychosocial assessment and discharge planning skills. Experience and knowledge of community and financial resources. Experience working with maternity and/or NICU population. Experience providing supportive counseling, specifically with grief and loss.
