Addiction & Mental Health Housing (AMH Housing) is a growing area within the AMH portfolio. We currently partner with several agencies in the Edmonton zone to provide a broad range of clinical services to the clients who reside in both our transitional and long term housing sites. We recognize housing as a key Social Determinant of Health and we work from a Recovery Oriented System of Care. Our teams are passionate in providing service to the AMH population who have a history of houselessness or are at high risk of losing their housing. The AMH Principles of Care are at the core of the work that we do. Our work is anchored in the AHS Cares values and we strive to maintain a strong team, supporting each other in both wellness and continued professional development. The Social Worker will be embedded at the WEAC site and will be the key AMH person involved in the Transitional Housing Program. WEAC is operated by E4C and the transitional program is a 10 bed program. The incumbent will be responsible for collaborative intake and the provision of clinical, AMH support. They will provide AMH consultation and referral pathways to the women who are in the additional emergency beds, as needed. Essential to the skill set of this position will be a comprehensive awareness of housing resources, and an understanding of personal and systemic housing barriers, particularly with regards to individuals with significant concurrent addiction, mental health and medical challenges. This is a fast paced site and an ability to manage competing priorities while building a relationship with E4C is critical. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current CPR (BLS Level C – Health Care Provider). NCI - Non Violent Crisis Intervention. A driver's license and access to a vehicle with appropriate business insurance. Cultural competence and a commitment to ongoing reconciliation. Flexibility, openness, and a desire to be a strong team player.

Preferred Qualifications:

Excellent communication and self management skills. Knowledge of Concurrent Capable practice. Knowledge of both Recovery Oriented Care and Harm Reduction principles. Experience working with multiple stakeholders is an asset. 3-5 years experience in a community mental health and/or rehabilitation setting preferred.
