The Royal Alexandra Hospital is currently searching for a Social Worker II to join our team. Our fast paced and exciting facility provides specialized treatment services to patients in Edmonton and Northern Alberta. The SW II will thrive within a supportive, interdisciplinary team that is dedicated to ensuring safe, efficient, evidence-based, patient and family-centered, inpatient and outpatient care. The SWII is responsible for the assessment and treatment of patients as well as development and implementation of treatment programs according to practice standards. Our team of passionate health care professionals are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of those affected by illness or injury by providing comprehensive care and support. You will join a team of Allied Health Professionals that include SW, SW assistant, Housing Support worker, Transition Coordinators, OT’s, PT’s and more that collaborate to provide the best care for patients. As a Social Worker II you will provide clinical assessments and interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum discharge dispositions through resource brokerage, optimizing finances, accessing and providing supports. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention, triage, screening, assessment, goal setting, treatment, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to our patients. You will include clients and families as members of the team, encouraging their participation in all aspects of care. You will contribute to quality improvement and your professional community; participate in peer mentoring; and supervise students. You may provide supervision to SW assistant and Housing support worker. On-site mentorship is provided.
Description:
As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:A Bachelor or Master of Social Work degree (BSW) is required. Greater than 1 year Experience in an inpatient adult acute care setting is required. Current registration with the Alberta College of Social Work is required. Demonstration of strong critical thinking and problem solving is required. Experience working successfully in a collaborative interdisciplinary team setting is required. The candidate will have proven communication skills to work cooperatively and effectively with the health care team members, patients and their families in a fast-paced environment. Strong professional judgment, initiative, and effective time management skills are necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with capacity assessment processes, financial assessments and complex placement processes is an asset. The ability to work with various computer programs is an asset.
