The Turningpoint Program (Unit 3-6) at Alberta Hospital Edmonton is an 18-bed inpatient forensic unit that supports youths and young adults who are in conflict with the law. The Turningpoint Program provides assessment, stabilization, short- and long-term treatment to youth with legal standing under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Stabilization is also provided to youths experiencing an acute psychiatric disturbance. The Turningpoint Program is a very dynamic and unique program, and the successful candidate will be skilled with engagement, de-escalation skills and healthy boundaries, while providing excellent care in a collaborative team environment. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Description:
As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:A minimum of 2 years clinical experience in psychiatric, mental health or forensic settings and a working knowledge of the DSMV is required. Certification in Suicide Prevention and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention is also required.
Preferred Qualifications:Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with an adolescent population.
