Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Unit Manager of the UAH Eating Disorders Program, the Social Worker II is part of an interdisciplinary team that provides care to patients with eating disorders as well as their families by assisting with their psychosocial needs while in hospital. Potential duties may include assessment, education, treatment, group facilitation, advocacy, resource finding, consultation and discharge planning for patients and their families. The incumbent will also participate in non-patient care activities such as program planning, evaluation, quality improvement, research and staff development, along with other duties as required by the Unit Manager. The Social Worker should have strong abilities to liaise with other teams within the health care system to improve patient flow and outcomes. Generalist social work tasks are also part of the role. This position requires skill in addiction and mental health competencies such as risk assessment, mental health/status assessment, and biopsychosocial assessment. As this is a new position with our team, we are looking for someone who is innovative and creative with the ability and passion to further develop the role. Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Additional Required Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, candidates must have a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree or a Master's of Social Work, along with current registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW), including authorization to perform restricted psychosocial interventions. CPR (BLS-HCP) and NCI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) certification are also required. The role demands strong professional judgment in decision-making, initiative, effective time-management skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively with healthcare team members, patients, and their families in a fast-paced hospital environment. While recent experience in both acute inpatient and outpatient psychiatry is preferred, candidates with 1-2 years of recent experience working with Eating Disorders patients and their families/supports will be given preference. Skills in psychiatric assessment and crisis intervention are also essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

3-5 years' experience in a mental health setting is strongly preferred. Excellent communication and self-management skills are ideal. Knowledge of concurrent capable practice and recovery-oriented care is valuable. Familiarity with community resources and the ability to navigate the healthcare system, particularly within the AMH context, are seen as significant assets. Past experience with varied computer programs (i.e. Connect Care) is ideal.
