Your Opportunity:
The Rockyview General Hospital (RGH) is a metropolitan hospital with over 600 inpatient beds. It is also the main site for urology & ophthalmology specialties. RGH is located next to the scenic Glenmore Reservoir in SW Calgary. RGH Social Work (within the Allied Health Portfolio) works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary teams in the Emergency Department, ICU/CCU, Medical/Surgical Units, Transition Units, & Maternal/Child Units. This position offers an opportunity work as part of a dynamic team where the focus is on a Mat/Child portfolio with services being offered 7 days/week. Operational needs may require a shift in portfolio. As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an interdisciplinary team and provide a range of social work services to patients & their families. Your services may include psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual & family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management & coordination, & transition or discharge planning. You will have a proven ability to work effectively within a patient-centered & interdisciplinary team environment. Your assessment & critical thinking skills will be necessary to guide your work with complex family situations & Child and Family Services while also being able to support families through a myriad of circumstances. You must demonstrate an ability to provide clinical social work services within an adult acute care hospital as well as responding to a continually changing health care environment. Your proven time management skills & demonstrated initiative will be an asset to this position. Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:Current Heart and Stroke BLS - Provider certification. Experience working with families/children and community resourcing. Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Social Worker in urban Acute Care. Experience in Social Work with a Maternal/Child portfolio.
Preferred Qualifications:2 years+ exp as a SW in urban Acute Care. 1 year+ exp in SW with a Maternal/Child portfolio. Exp supporting families with infant loss. Exp working with Child & Family Services. Exp with community resources & referral with a Maternal/Child focus. Exp with ICU, CCU, ED. Exp with community resources & referral related to adult acute care. Exp with discharge planning related to adult acute care. Exp with geriatrics & geriatric focused social work (sub-acute/transition units). Exp at RGH site.
