Service Worker I
Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Ambulatory Care Manager, you will work in a variety of outpatient clinics including Outpatient IV Clinic, Chest Medicine Clinic and the Outpatient Department. Your work in maintaining supplies and equipment, ensuring cleanliness of the environment and equipment and assisting patients directly is critical to ensure we provide the best care possible. You must be able to work independently and be positive team member. You will take direction from the Manager, Charge Nurse and other Health Professionals in determining priorities and must be flexible in managing multiple requests.
Description:
As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Strong communication and Critical Thinking Skills. Current BCLS-HCP certification is required- issued from Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (HSFC) only. Ability to walk/stand for the majority of your shift and porter patients/equipment to all areas of the hospital. Ability to assist with transfer and lifting of heavy patients on occasion.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience as a service worker in a healthcare setting. Previous experience in a related medical field.
