Service Worker I
Your Opportunity:
The Respiratory Therapy Service Worker at the RAH is an integral member of the health care team, supporting both adult patients and the Stollery Children’s Hospital NICU within a busy tertiary care facility. This role supports the Respiratory Therapy department and assists the Supply Coordinator at the Royal Alexandra Hospital by performing essential non-patient care duties, including restocking and distributing equipment and hospital supplies, cleaning and setting up respiratory therapy equipment, transporting equipment between units, and maintaining cleanliness in patient care areas. The Service Worker also reports any supply shortages or safety concerns to the manager and performs other related tasks as required, playing a key role in ensuring smooth departmental operations and supporting high-quality patient care through reliable and efficient service.
Description:
As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Additional Required Qualifications:The successful applicant is required to be able to read, write, speak thoroughly and comprehend English. The incumbent must have excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, have the ability to work as a team member, and respond to multiple requests and demands. The incumbent must be able to organize and prioritize work with minimal supervision and be able to work in a physically demanding role that includes standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping and carrying during the entire shift.
Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of basic infection control, cleaning procedures and associated equipment.
