Your Opportunity:

In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Description:

As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

A minimum of one year of previous experience in a healthcare environment and current CPR are required. The ability to organize tasks with minimal supervision and to adapt to frequent interruptions in work activities; and the ability to work independently and assess work priorities is also required. Basic knowledge of computer programs, such as email, is required. The incumbent must possess excellent interpersonal and public relations skills, as well as be able to demonstrate the ability to read, write, speak, understand and follow written and oral directions in English. This position requires the ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and display tact, courtesy and discretion at all times. All new employees will be required to attend a 4-day Environmental Services Orientation and a 1- day AHS Orientation.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous knowledge and application of WHMIS preferred. Preference will be given to internal AHS applicants.
