As the Senior Project Manager you will support the design and implementation of a new Oncofertility Preservation Program (OPP). Cancer treatments like chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery can harm reproductive organs and cause permanent infertility. Saving eggs, sperm, or reproductive tissue before treatment protects future family-building choices and helps survivors have a better quality of life after beating cancer. Currently, the cost of fertility preservation is a significant barrier. In April of 2026, the Government of Alberta announced new funding to mitigate these financial barriers, enabling more cancer patients to participate in fertility preservation. As the Project manager, you will provide project management services and expertise within Cancer Care Alberta (CCA) and across the cancer ecosystem to plan, implement, monitor, and ensure sustainability of the new Oncofertility Preservation Program (OPP). Working with Fertility experts in Alberta and key stakeholders in CCA, Pediatric Oncology, as well as with malignant Hematology programs outside of CCA, the Senior PM will deliver an integrated OPP that: Provides timely fertility and reproductive risk counselling related to predicted cancer treatment toxicity. Facilitates timely referrals to a fertility clinic in Alberta. Mitigates financial barriers to access fertility preservation services, and Provides navigation and emotional support for cancer patients. The Senior PM works with a high degree of independence, with guidance from the provincial Oncofertility Working group and direction from the OPP steering committee. This position requires occasional provincial travel and opportunities to work in-person with collocated teams.

The Senior Project Manager, Oncofertility Preservation Program (OPP) will provide project management services and expertise within Cancer Care Alberta (CCA) and across the cancer ecosystem to plan, implement, monitor, and ensure sustainability of a new Oncofertility Preservation Program (OPP) for eligible cancer patients so that they can receive timely, equitable access to fertility risk assessment, counseling, and preservation options prior to cancer treatment initiation. Reporting to the Supportive Care Services and Patient Experience Executive Director, the Senior Project Manager (Senior PM) is responsible for and provides leadership to project management activities across the design and implementation stages of the OPP project. The Senior PM applies advanced project management methodology, skillfully facilitating diverse groups and engaging collaborators to address complex issues that surround the development and implementation of the OPP. The role integrates change management, implementation science, and process improvement.

Bachelor’s degree in business or health care related field. Professional designation in project management (e.g. Project Management Professional designation). 5 years of experience in project management. 3 years of experience leading project teams and large projects within a healthcare organization of significant size, complexity and diversity, through project planning, execution, monitoring, evaluation, and sustainability. Demonstrated leadership skills, including comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Ability to oversee and motivate provincial project teams to work effectively and efficiently where project resources don’t report directly to them and subject matter experts may have limited availability. Proven ability to foster relationships and partnerships with complex and varied internal and external individuals and groups. Experience communicating with and working directly with clinicians and operations, physicians, other health care professionals, executives, and engaging patients and families. Highly effective communicator with demonstrated skill in verbal and written communication; ability to relay or explain complex issues or difficult situations.
Additional Required Qualifications:Strong organizational skills, leading through influence and consensus-building, client-focused orientation, and commitment to providing quality services. Ability to develop and facilitate presentations and communication materials (eg: infographics, videos, briefing notes, reports) to convey information or transfer knowledge. High proficiency (including the ability to coach and train others) with MS Office suite, including MS Project, Visio, SharePoint, Excel, Teams, OneNote, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint. Ability to analyze and synthesize data and information to advance innovation and support evidence-informed decision making. Motivated and adaptable team player. Very detail-oriented, thorough, accurate. Strong facilitation and mediation skills. Demonstrated application of systems thinking, and change management. Ability to deal with highly complex or sensitive issues in a professional manner. Ability to work independently with limited supervision, under pressure with adherence to firm deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:Graduate level degree in business or health care related field. Formal training in quality improvement or business management. Comprehensive working knowledge of Cancer Care Alberta and Alberta Health Services systems, processes, and policies. Training in process improvement and health services planning is an asset. Advanced knowledge, training, and skills in leadership, knowledge management, change management, research, and implementation science.
