Senior Project Manager
Your Opportunity:
Clinical Project Support Services (CPSS) delivers high-impact project management services within AHS, with a focus on the Program Improvement & Integration Networks (PINs). We are seeking an experienced and dynamic senior project manager to facilitate clinical projects and drive quality improvement. Reporting to the CPSS Program Manager, the Senior Project Manager leads project management activities on AHS clinical and non-clinical projects. Applies CPSS project management tools and practices and produces project management plans, schedules and other required project outputs. Builds business area knowledge with clients, and monitors project performance to ensure success. Develops strategic relationships with multidisciplinary teams to effectively engage internal and external stakeholders, works closely with clinicians and manages client expectations regarding project management support. Applies change management processes and integrates these into project plans. Helps to build project management competence through guidance and consultation. Involved in creation and production of project management education activities for an AHS audience.
Description:
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for and provides leadership to project management activities across all stages of a project, often including pre-project activities and spanning project initiation, planning and execution, implementation, evaluation and closure. The Senior PM applies project management methodology and expertise, effectively facilitates diverse groups addressing complex issues, and skillfully engages stakeholders to develop effective and efficient solutions and health services. The Senior PM applies knowledge management practices and expertise to effectively manage project knowledge, and contribute to organizational learning. The Senior PM must possess the skills to use data and information to effectively advance quality and innovation. The Senior PM is committed to quality improvement and appropriately applies change management and process improvement principles, knowledge and expertise. The Senior PM works with a high degree of independence on assigned projects and in the delivery of other CPSS services, with guidance in only the most complex situations. The Senior PM works within a team-based and matrix resourcing environment and may supervise staff or lead functional teams or projects. The Senior PM seeks guidance from the Director CPSS appropriately for complex issues that may have broader organization impact. The Senior PM plays a leadership role in building project management capability in AHS through the delivery of consultative services to clients, design and delivery of project management education, accountability for internal quality assurance processes, and peer mentorship. The Senior PM role requires specialized and advanced expertise, knowledge and skill, along with considerable experience within healthcare environments.

A Master’s or research-based degree in a health-related field. Relevant project management specific education, training, or certification in project management from an accredited institution.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Five years of progressive experience in project management, including knowledge of project management principles, tools and methodologies. Considerable experience with coordinating/leading teams through project planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation. Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a unique project environment where project resources and subject matter experts have limited availability to contribute; demonstrated ability to move projects forward within these constraints. Highly effective communicator with demonstrated skill in verbal and written communication; ability to relay or explain complex issues or difficult situations. Ability to develop and facilitate presentations to convey information or transfer knowledge. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Strong facilitation and mediation skills. Demonstrated application of change management.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional designation in project management. Experience working directly with clinicians. Experience leading project teams and large projects within a healthcare organization. Significant experience in critical-thinking, analysis, problem-solving. Experience managing physical and human resources and related financial / statistical information. 3 years of experience working in a healthcare organization of significant size, complexity and diversity.
