Senior Consultant - MCS Program
Your Opportunity:
The Manager of the Adult and Pediatric Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) Program and Extracorpeal Membrane Oxygen (ECMO) Program is responsible and accountable for providing clinical leadership to an inter-professional team ensuring effective and efficient management of all aspects of program delivery for those patients experiencing end-stage heart failure. The Senior Consultant - MCS Program is the Cardiac Sciences’ primary resource for the VAD and ECMO program and serves a broad catchment area including Edmonton, Northern Alberta, Central and Southern Alberta. In addition, the manager services complex patients in many parts of Western Canada.
Description:
The Manager is responsible for identifying and defining strategic priorities. This is done by ensuring alignment with national standards through completion of environmental scans, and ongoing planning, implementing and evaluation of the program model. The manager will provide leadership and oversight for all quality improvement initiatives, participate in research, and support outreach and education activities. The manager is responsible for safe, quality patient care and is accountable for human, fiscal and other resources assigned to the VAD and ECMO program.

Graduate of a recognized School of Nursing or Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing required. 1-2 years of VAD experience with demonstrated competence and in-depth knowledge in the operations of VAD devices and associated equipment required. 1- 2 years of ECLS specialist experience required. 3 - 5 years recent Nursing experience in a Cardiovascular ICU required. All lever 2 certifications required. Previous management or leadership experience (charge nurse, nurse educator, project manager, etc.) demonstrating effective leadership / management, team building, teaching and communication skills required. Highly motivated, self-directed and demonstrated accountability and integrity in the performance of duties required.
Additional Required Qualifications:BCLS. Critical Care Certificate. Active CRNA Registration required.
Preferred Qualifications:As Required.
