Your Opportunity:
Health Shared Services' Connect Care, Clinical Operations Informatics Office (COIO) is currently looking to add a permanent Senior Advisor to its provincial team. Connect Care is a transformative provincial Health Care program that has integrated over 1300 independent systems across Alberta into one platform enhancing patient quality care. The Senior Advisor is responsible for collaborating with clinical and operational leaders to define, plan, implement and evaluate the learning required to create a comprehensive eHealth competency framework and ensure resources are available to support clinical informatics teams. The Senior Advisor is a key member of the team responsible for leading the development and facilitation of creation, maintenance and delivery of the eHealth competency framework. Reporting to the Executive Director Training and Health Informatics, the Senior Advisor engages with Clinical and Operational leaders working with the COIO informatics leaders to define, plan, implement and evaluate the eHealth competency program to support the advancement of clinical informatics competence. There is flexibility as to the location of this position within the Province of Alberta. At the time of appointment, the successful candidate may discuss location options with the hiring manager.
Description:
The Senior Advisor (SA) – eHealth Competence supports the responsible for leading the development and facilitation of creation, maintenance and delivery of the eHealth competency framework. The role requires extensive collaboration with engages with clinical informatics leaders to define, plan, implement and evaluate the eHealth competency program to support the advancement of staff informatics competence. A key function of this role is to lead competency maps, curriculum and support change management strategies that facilitate the successful adoption and advancement of informatics competencies across digital health. The SA will champion user engagement, promote learning opportunities, and delivery of ehealth competence curriculum. This role requires clinical informatics knowledge, strong leadership and influencing skills, and the ability to navigate politically sensitive issues with significant organizational impact. The successful candidate will support the coordination of the eHealth competency framework within the Digital Health portfolio, engaging both internal teams and external partners.

Undergraduate degree required. A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working with clinical informatics and adult education development. A minimum of 10 years of direct experience in clinical roles in the provision of healthcare or a strong working knowledge and intimate understanding of healthcare delivery. Membership in good standing with appropriate professional organization (i.e., CRNA, SOAT, CPTA, etc.). Working knowledge of the healthcare system and the Clinical Informatics function. Extensive knowledge and understanding of clinical informatic competencies. Travel within Alberta may be required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Proven strong organization skills, excellent communication, and interview skills, excellent interpersonal and team building skills. Must have knowledge & experience in adult learning and instructional design along with story boarding and electronic learning development. Must also have experience with elearning software and authoring tools (i.e. Captivate, Moodle). Must have demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead others and impress upon them the importance of training for safe system use. Ability to actively and positively participate and negotiate solutions to resolve conflicts that could arise. Ability to lead other IT and clinical operations staff through complex discussions finding resolution. Detail oriented with a knack for probing for information in order to fully understand the underlying needs that drive how the system should be built. Ability to work in a team environment as well as individually to build and maintain positive working relationships will be key success factors in this role. Strong time management skills with the ability to meet project deadlines are essential. Must have working knowledge of basic systems principles, theories, and concepts and of the healthcare business. Experience mentoring and supporting junior staff. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Self-motivated with little supervision. Ability to tolerate prolonged sitting and computer work.
Preferred Qualifications:
Epic or other CIS application curriculum development and training experience is highly desirable. Master’s degree in a related field preferred. Health related degree preferred.
