This position is in the town of Ponoka at the heart of Central Alberta, located only 3 minutes off the Queen Elizabeth II Highway between Red Deer and Edmonton. With approximately 6800 residents. Ponoka is a fun and scenic community to settle down in with many recreational facilities including the Aqua plex with indoor pool, a Summer Splash Park, Trails, Parks and upgraded playgrounds, Mini Golf, Ball Diamonds, Soccer Fields, Tennis Courts, Arena and Outdoor Rink, Agriculture Centre, Farmers Market and the Annual Ponoka Stampede. Ponoka is also home to the world class 18-hole Ponoka Community Golf Club and sits only 12 min from the Legendary 27-hole Wolf Creek Golf Resort. Ponoka’s 8 km of trail systems run through the lush Battle River Valley and are connected to the Trans-Canada Trail System. The successful applicant will provide Community-based Respiratory Therapy services four days per week in Ponoka and one day per week in Rimbey. This position primarily serves outpatient clients with a focus on home oxygen consultations, Respiratory patient education for COPD/Asthma, and Spirometry/Pulmonary Function testing. In addition, the Respiratory Therapist will be expected to support to the local Acute Care and Home Care teams and to contribute to discharge planning, to complete Respiratory assessments/treatments, to assist in the management of Artificial airway management and provide respiratory equipment consultation and critical care skill education to the health care team as appropriate. The role is supported by the Allied Health Area Manager and Respiratory Therapy Professional Practice Lead, with opportunities to connect with professional in surrounding areas.
Description:
As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will assess patients (clients, resident), develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes. You will provide training and assist health care providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments.
