Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Qualifications:Trained in Low Dose Ketamine Infusions. 2 year acute care medical/surgical nursing experience within the last 5 years. PCA/PCEA Certification. TNA/TPN Certification. Central Line Certification. Chest Tube care and maintenance knowledge. Recent charge experience on an acute inpatient unit. Experience in Inpatient Surgery or Medicine. Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills. Knowledge and use of Clinibase, SCM, and AHS email. Demonstrated effective patient teaching experience (both written and verbal). Strong critical thinking skills demonstrated. Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessment skills. Demonstrated high functioning time management and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to prioritize in a rapidly changing environment. Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills through computer, verbal, and written means in a professional and mature manner. Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and independence of nursing practice in a multidisciplinary team environment. Demonstrated ability to successfully establish relationships with both patients and families and engage them in their care.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience preceptoring, orientating, and/or mentoring new staff, and/or students.
