Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:A minimum of five years facility-based nursing experience including geriatric experience (obtained within the last three years). A minimum of two years’ experience within the community is required (home care, supportive living, or facility living). Effective time management and prioritization skills. Conflict resolution and strong communication skills. Must be able to work independently and within a team environment. Ability to problem solve and demonstrate critical thinking skills. Demonstrated ability to provide comprehensive assessments to individuals within their physical and social environments. Must be able to cope with high levels of stress, fluctuating priorities, and time sensitive deadlines. Must be able to tolerate long periods of sitting or standing as well as repetitive movements. Must be able to lift and carry 10-15 kg regularly. Must be able to participate in hands on care of patients (i.e. transfers, bariatric clients, bending, twisting, walking distances). Must provide references that can substantiate above qualifications. Must be able to complete N95 Fit testing and tolerate same.
Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of computer applications such as Connect Care, Microsoft Word, Pathways, RAI Tools, Meditech, and e-People is preferred and considered an asset. Active Transition Coordinators with up-to-date certification may get preference.
