Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Two years of recent nursing experience (within the last 5 years) or completion of a refresher program within 2 years including Wound and Ostomy Care. Completion of an accredited Wound & Ostomy course (Canadian Association of Intrastromal Therapy or equivalent) Proven Communication & Assessment skills to work cooperatively and effectively with the healthcare team members, clients, and their families in a fast-paced environment. Self-directed and the ability to work independently & use sound professional judgement. Excellent organizational skills –able to prioritize & efficiently organize many details in a timely manner. At the time of interview, you may be required to demonstrate your computer knowledge & proficiency by completing a hands-on assessment. You must demonstrate sufficient typing speed to meet workload demand and navigate through various computer programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Visio, Outlook and Internet. Physically capable of performing nursing tasks which could include transfer of clients. The successful candidate will work independently in clients’ homes, which could include congregate settings, single family dwellings, condos and/or walk-up apartments. Therefore, the successful candidate must be able to work in different settings and environments (home environments and weather conditions), as well as be able to lift and carry medical bags, which weigh approximately 25-30 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in community sector will be considered. Previous Community Care and/or geriatric experience. Experience with Meditech and the RAI Home Care assessment tool and Connect Care 2 years current nursing practice as a Continuing Care case manager. Palliative Care Experience. Students currently enrolled in the program with experience can also be considered.
