Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Must have 5 years current adult surgical nursing experience or recent phase II recovery experience. Recent charge nurse experience Certification/current experience with IV initiation & phlebotomy. Experience orientating new staff/students. Demonstrated excellent assessment, leadership, and patient care skills. Strong communications skills (verbal/written). Strong interpersonal & problem solving skills. Proven reliability/dependability required. Ability to deal with patients who are acutely ill in an unpredictable and stressful environment. Ability to work in a physically demanding environment such as considerable standing/walking; lifting, positioning, pushing and/or transferring patients; considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, walking and lifting up to fifty pounds, pushing beds/stretchers multiple times for prolonged distance between units. Recent/previous short stay surgery experience an asset. Certification with the Canadian Nurses Association in Medical/Surgical or Perianesthesia Nursing an asset.
Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in community sector will be considered. ACLS preferred. Advanced knowledge of regional/neuroaxial/multimodal anesthesia preferred. Advanced knowledge of chronic pain an asset. Advanced knowledge of ERAS, STOP Bang/OSA, NRT, Infection Control, & Health Promotion strategies preferred. QI experience an asset. Experience with Telehealth preferred.
