Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Current PACU experience (within the last 6 months) and/or completion of a PACU certificate program. Current certification in IV initiation, medication administration, CVC, and blood glucose monitoring required. Astute nursing assessment skills and ability to perform consistently in a highly organized, rapid moving, complex environment. Demonstrates advanced problem solving skills integrating critical thinking and good judgment. Demonstrates the ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrates communication skills promoting respect in the workplace. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development. Ability to work on-call as per rotation and respond within 30 minutes. Ability to stand for prolonged periods while providing nursing care and ability to lift/push/pull up to 15 kg. The successful candidate must have effectively demonstrated safe, competent, and ethical care through previous professional roles. A family centered care approach is essential.
Preferred Qualifications:Candidates without PACU experience that have current critical care experience (at least one year ICU/ED) may be considered, but preference will be given to candidates with current PACU experience. Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred. Current certification in PALS. Current pediatric nursing experience within the past 12 months.
