Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:A minimum of three (3) years of recent acute care is required. On-call work required. Demonstrated excellent assessment, organizational and patient care skills. Ability to make sound clinical assessments and ability to communicate findings concisely. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills are essential. Orientation will be provided for applicants without peritoneal dialysis experience. Please note, successful candidate must be available to take Peritoneal Dialysis orientation in Edmonton. Orientation will be 6 weeks (full-time, Monday-Friday 0730-1545) in Edmonton at West Edmonton Kidney Care. A passing mark of 80% on the final exam and satisfactory performance during clinical component is required to move on to buddy shifts, which are assigned by the hiring manager.
Preferred Qualifications:Skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in the community will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with AKC Home Peritoneal Dialysis and Hemodialysis experience. Preference will be given to candidates with Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BScN), Nephrology Certification (CNeph), Connect Care experience, Charge Nurse and/or Team Lead experience.
