Your Opportunity:

Opioid use is a serious problem in Alberta that requires a comprehensive, coordinated, and sustainable approach to prevent and reduce harms related to opioid dependence. Strategies have been implemented to address this problem, including opioid replacement medication and psychosocial support available to the public wanting to access treatment. The Opioid Dependency Program (ODP) provides oral medication Suboxone, methadone, and Kadian (SROM), injectable medication such as Sublocade and Narcotic Transition Services (NTS) which provides medications such as Hydromorphone. We are seeking an experienced, caring, and strength-based professional to complement our Health Services Team. As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Opioid Dependency Program, you need to be knowledgeable and comfortable working with all forms of opioid replacement treatment. You will work with an interdisciplinary team to provide holistic, quality, client-focused, recovery-based, concurrent and culturally sensitive care to those accessing the clinic. Duties include providing interventions needed to address clients’ health needs, coordinating care with other team members, case management, planning, medication management and evaluation as well as providing coaching and support. While this position will focus on mainly on working with clients within the NTS program, the incumbent will be trained to work with people prescribed OAT only. This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour - $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)

Additional Required Qualifications:

Must have 3 years of previous experience working with people who would be diagnosed with a substance use disorder. NVCI or immediate registration into the next available course is required. Suicide Prevention training. Must be able to work independently with a high degree of judgment and must be able to work effectively as part of an inter-professional team. Commitment to strengthening team dynamics by actively facilitating team collaboration to enhance client health outcomes. Must have experience working with vulnerable populations including those living with addictions and mental health concerns. Must be able to use clinical skills in holistic assessment and strong clinical experience in providing treatment to address physical and mental health needs. Knowledge of and ability to apply the principles of trauma-informed care in all interactions with clients. Physical ability to respond to emergency situations and lift, squat, and carry. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with community partners required. Experience working in an interdisciplinary setting is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Excellent communication, problem-solving and organizational skills. Ability to engage various populations. Experience with Connect Care.
