Be part of the leading edge of cancer treatment - Join our Clinical Trials Unit! We are looking for nurses with clinical trials experience, and oncology nurses who are interested in expanding their knowledge into the exciting area of clinical research! Assist with the coordination of clinical research trials. Identify potential participants and coordinate investigations to assure trial compliance according to study protocol. Work within a fast paced, ever-changing environment requiring flexibility. Perform patient assessments, management and education. Obtain informed consent, conduct or arrange pre-testing and administer questionnaires or other data collection tools; plan, implement and coordinate all aspects of data collection and source documentation as per ICH/GCP guidelines. Execute all aspects of study visits: e.g., Assessments, adverse event and medication review, safety monitoring, administering questionnaires. Make autonomous clinical and professional decisions on a daily basis. Work within and monitor standards of care related to defined clinical trial protocols and the policies, procedures, standards and protocols of the Clinical Trials Unit ensuring adherence to, and delivery of, a high-quality service. Oversee the day-to-day management of patients during the study. Liaise between the patient/family, Clinical Research Coordinator(s), the Health Care Team and related treatment areas. Liaison with Study Sponsors and Monitors. Assist in the preparation of Research Ethics Board applications and Operational Approvals. Prepare for and facilitate Health Canada, Sponsor and/or FDA Audits. Delivery of cancer treatment(s) may be required. Perform blood collection and ECG monitoring as needed. The initial position assignment will be with our Hematology team; however, all positions within the Unit may be reassigned to or may assist other groups as required.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)

Additional Required Qualifications:

2 years clinical trials experience. Experience with hematological cancer disease, diagnosis and treatment. Experience with the delivery of chemotherapy/biotherapy/cancer treatments, knowledge of mechanisms of action and their adverse event profiles. 2-3 years recent nursing experience in Medical/Radiation Oncology. Comprehensive patient assessment, management and intervention skills. Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. Demonstrated time management and organization skills; flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple patients or projects. Effective oral and written communication. Excellent computer skills and experience using electronic medical charts or patient management systems. Applicants must be able to perform tasks that require standing, sitting, bending, stretching, and lifting. Patient assistance, pushing and pulling mobile computers or carts, and lifting boxes or equipment up to 40 lbs. may be required. Good Clinical Practice, ICH and Health Canada Regulatory training will be required if not current. Preferred Qualifications:

Baccalaureate preparation. Clinical trials membership or certification (e.g., SoCRA, ACRP). Preference will be given to those with O-PREP or ONDEC oncology training.
