Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Certification and recent experience in direct IV push drug administration and IV start proficiency are required. A demonstrated knowledge of Gastroenterology/Pulmonary medicine as well as anatomy and physiology of the GI/ Respiratory systems are required. Minimum 5 years nursing experience in an adult acute care hospital setting is required. Able to do urgent/emergency call during days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays required. Expected to stand for majority of shift. Able to wear lead aprons for upwards of 1 hour at a time, multiple times during a 7.75 hour shift required. Able to push patients (including bariatric patients) on stretchers at least 75 meters more than 28 times per day required. Must be able to reposition sedated patients with minimal assistance. Able to stand in confined areas for the duration of the shift or callback. Able to push/pull large, heavy equipment for procedures performed out of the department. Able to apply upwards of 25 pounds of abdominal pressure for a minimum of 5 minutes, multiple times during a 7.75 hour shift required. Computer literacy is required.
Preferred Qualifications:2 years nursing experience with Emergency, ICU or PACU preferred. Recent (within 1 year) nursing experience in an Endoscopy suite performing procedural sedation and assisting with endoscopic. GI and Pulmonary procedures. Ability to work in a fast paced team environment.
