Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of 1-2 years of recent Continuing Care community nursing (i.e. Home Living, Supportive Living) experience is required. Excellent verbal, written and telephone communication skills are necessary, as well as experience tele-triaging complex clients and situations. Knowledge and use of Meditech and Connect Care systems is essential/mandatory. Responsible to provide ongoing proof of current CPR, educational credentials and active registration which is in good standing with the College & Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). It is also the employees’ responsibility to maintain registration throughout the duration of employment. At the time of interview, you may be required to demonstrate your computer knowledge and proficiency by completing a hands-on assessment. You must demonstrate sufficient typing speed to meet workload demand and navigate through various computer programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Visio, Outlook and Internet. Physically capable of performing nursing tasks including extended periods of repetitive motion tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in community sector will be considered. Palliative care experience. Previous Continuing Care and/or geriatric experience. Experience with Meditech, Connect Care and the RAI Home Care assessment tool. 2 years current Case Management Experience in Continuing Care. Experience with advanced telecommunications systems would also be a benefit.
