Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Diploma in Nursing Required. Minimum 3 years of recent experience in delivery of group patient education required. Clinical experience in dealing with chronic disease (minimally diabetes and obesity) prevention and management strategies required. Minimum 2 years health care professional training experience in Obesity and Diabetes required. 2 years of recent experience with diabetes management is required. Current CPR – Basic Level required. Ability to lift, handle and carry up to 30 pounds of equipment is required. The role also requires continued use of personal protective equipment. Must be able to raise arms above head to appropriately don and doff PPE as well as lift equipment and supplies. Requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time. Requires walking several blocks and climbing several flights of stairs. Requires packing, lifting, and transporting equipment to and from community sites. Position requires traveling within the Edmonton zone.
Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing preferred. Preference will be given to applicants with a CDE (Certified Diabetes Educator) / CBE (Certified Bariatric Educator) designation. Experience working with diverse and vulnerable populations is an asset. Completion of a recognized course in adult learning is an asset. Experience working with eClinician & Connect Care preferred.
