Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Maternity experience and ER experience of at least 2 years -required. Acute care experience of at least 3 years - required. Ability to support staff and liaise between Care Manager and staff and with other departments, physicians, and families. She should have the ability to lead and direct the nursing team during the shift. Facilitates discharge planning. Assisting with physicians rounds and processing physicians' orders. Facilitating student experience, implementing emergency plan as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:Ensures: patient assignment/workload is communicated to staff and same is followed; compliance with policies and procedures; charting system is completed and care plans are made, revised and followed accordingly. Initiates team conferences as required; leads the daily Rapid rounds, makes sure that ROPs are adhered to and followed and that nightly rounds and checks are done. Orientates staff to new equipment. Gives input into staff performance appraisals. Performs rounds daily rounds.
