Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of 1-2 years of recent Continuing Care community nursing (i.e. Home Living, Supportive Living) experience is required. Excellent verbal, written and telephone communication skills are necessary, as well as experience tele-triaging complex clients and situations. Knowledge and use of Meditech and Connect Care system is essential/mandatory. You must demonstrate sufficient typing speed to meet workload demand and navigate through various computer programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) Outlook, Internet, Meditech and Connect Care. Physically capable of performing nursing tasks including extended periods of repetitive motion tasks. demonstrated competency in InterRAI Contact Assessment and a demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize workload from multifaceted areas and ensure accuracy. Effective communication skills. Experience with advanced telecommunications systems would also be a benefit. Must be a systems thinker. Demonstrated ability to advocate for client and families and navigate the healthcare system: awareness of community and government programs, services, and eligibility criteria.
Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor of Nursing. Previous recent experience in Home Care, gerontology, palliative care, acute care experience with clinical skill set, transition services and Continuing Care Access Centre required. The Access Centre is the single point of entry into Seniors Health. It is a High Stress, high needs environment that requires concentration, strong communication skills and ability to navigate high stress interactions and use evidenced based clinical practice to address situations that may arise.
