Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Qualifications:

Current IV certification. Must be able to work in a physically challenging environment: standing on one’s feet for prolong periods of time, frequent walking, lifting and bending. In addition, the incumbent is expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: Active participation in patient, family, and staff education. Effective patient assessment skills, timely documentation, attention to detail and accuracy. Effective time management skills to efficiently organize and prioritize workload in a fast paced and high volume changing environment. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written, and verbal. Ability to be self-directed and exercise independent decision making, sound nursing judgment, and critical thinking skills. Proven positive interpersonal relationships, leadership, and conflict resolution skills in a multi-disciplinary team environment. Effective communication with clients of various ages, socioeconomic status, and ethnic backgrounds Ability to integrate patient and family centered care principles into own Nursing practice.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in Pulmonary Out Patient Clinics is preferred. Certification in vaccination administration is preferred. Experience in procedural sedation is preferred. Minimum 3 years of adult critical care/medical/surgical experience preferred. Bronchoscopy experience preferred. Procedural sedation certification preferred. ACLS certification preferred. CRE certification preferred. Proficiency in programs such as: Clinibase, Millennium Scheduler, Netcare, EndoPro, and SCM preferred.
