Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:1 - 2 years of recent Home Care experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated critical thinking and decision-making skills, demonstrated assessment skills, demonstrated ability to operate within an electronic health record, proven ability to work in an interdisciplinary team, ability to work independently, good negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Ability to function effectively in a fast paced challenging environment. This role requires travel; possession of a valid drivers’ license and access to a motor vehicle in good repair for work related purposes is a requirement of this position. You will be required to operate a laptop computer and mobile phone, and manual handling (lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing and pulling) as a regular part of the job. For example: lifting of approximately 30 pounds in and out of a vehicle on a regular basis and carrying this weight up and down stairs throughout the day is common within this job. Learning resources and training are provided to safely perform work. Physically able to perform all assigned tasks, ability to perform all duties in accordance with related legislation.
Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Experience working with acute clients and/or long term clients with a focus on chronic disease management. Experience with mental health and/or addiction/harm reduction. Experience providing case management services. Experience in Home Parenteral Therapy (HPTP), wound skin, ostomy care, palliative support and client teaching.
