Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Comprehensive understanding of developmental milestones. Recent (2 year) pediatric experience with tracheostomies, wound care, HPT, and central lines. The successful candidate must be able to work in different settings and environments (home environments and weather conditions), as well as be able to lift and carrying professional bags, which weigh approximately 15-30 lbs. Required to bend, pull, lift, and perform variable movements and position changes from sitting on floor doing activities with children, families, and colleagues to working at desk/computer for extended periods of time. McMaster Case Management training and understanding of the AHS Continuing Care Case Management Competency Framework. Knowledge of pediatric community resources and programs.
Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate Degree or Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred; however, skills, and experience relevant to nursing practice in community sector will be considered. Computer knowledge/skills including meditech and outlook, and strong interpersonal skills is an asset. 2 years current nursing practice and 1 recent year in Home Living as a case manager is preferred. Knowledge of the principles of adult learning is an asset.
